Registration Pick-up

Registration packages will be available for pick-up at the Icebreaker on Sunday July 16 beginning at 4:30 PM. They will also be available beginning at 7:00 AM on Monday July 17 in the MacHall foyer.

Registration Details

  • All conference fees are payable in Canadian dollars (CAD). As of mid-February the CAD is worth ~0.76 USD, ~0.61 GBP and ~0.71 Euro.
  • Badge pick-up will be available at the icrebreaker reception and in the mornings before the start of sessions.
  • Registrations are for the persons specified and are non-transferable.
  • Invitation letters are available for those that need them for visa applications.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations will be accepted until 12:00 PM (Mountain Standard Time) on June 16th. All monies will be refunded minus a $50 (CAD) processing fee. Cancellations after this date are considered no-shows and are not eligible for a refund.

General Information

Conference fess include the Icebreaker Reception, oral and poster sessions, refreshment breaks as well as daily breakfast and lunch. Note: on Wednesday July 19th, mid-conference field trip day, there is NO breakfast and lunch is only provided for those attending field trips.

Guest Policy

Guests are spouses, friends or adult children (18 years old and older) of registered attendees who are not working in a sedimentology science related occupation or field. Registered guests are not permitted in the oral scientific session but are allowed to partake in the daily breakfast, lunch and refreshment breaks. They are also allowed to attend the ice breaker reception and all keynote lectures.

Accommodation

General Information

Accommodation for ICFS has been reserved from Saturday, July 15 through Friday, July 21 at various campus locations. Hotel Alma is the closest to the conference rooms and is only a three minute walk. Yamnuska and Kananaskis Halls are student residences within a 5 - 7 minute walk.

Rooms vary from single bed suites and dormitories to multi-bedroom units ideal for sharing.

Field Trips

General Information

A wide range of field trips are being offered both before, during and after ICFS 11. The trips vary from looking at modern processes to ancient outcrops and include a few non-fluvial trips for those wanting a change of pace.

Student Rates

Student rates are reduced thanks to a generous donation from Peter Putnam honouring the legacy of Derald Smith, one of the ICFS founding organisers. Maximum of 2 field trips per student and proof of student enrollment will need to be provided during registration and confirmed at registration pick-up. Use discount code ST‑ICFS11 during registration to get the reduced rate.

General Information

The Icebreaker Reception will take place on the University of Calgary campus from 5-7 PM on July 16 and provides a chance to pick up registration and meet other attendees.

The Imperial Gala Dinner will be on Thursday, July 20 to avoid conflicts with mid-conference field trips.
